Homeward Bound

This is our final run. We drove from Carthage to Salt Lake non-stop. That is from the Mississippi to home. 1,272 miles. 22 1/2 hours.
Final total milage.

Carthage

The feeling at Carthage is like the Grove. It is something that one has to experience to understand. Throughout the trip we learned about Joseph the Prophet. At carthage it is Joseph and Hyrum as men. This is the place where our relationship with the Savior and each other is the most real. When His children seek Him, the Lord will bring these seekers to paths that show them the worth of life and how to live it. It comes down to how and who we live with. I am glad this was our final stop.

Smith's Cemetery

The grave site of Joseph was a somber place. It felt like this was the convergence of the LDS church and the Community of Christ.

Nauvoo

Well, by the time Nauvoo we were burned out on the "tour of Mormon sites". We didn't go to many of the home sites, we mostly walked.

 Blues Travers
This outside The Red Brick Store. Steve and Luke bought harmonicas and I got a Jews Harp. Luke was blowing that thing for the rest of the trip.

Oh Ya, Wash Day

On a trip of this length we had to stop to do laundry. And like most things on this trip it was an interesting experience. The owner of the place was totally into his laundry mat. What I am saying is that he was passionate about it. He was stoked that a group on a road-trip from Utah would be using his place. He gave us a tour, demonstrated how to use the machines, which ones held how much, then threw in soap for everyone. FREE SOAP! Well at first glance it looks like any other LM. Until Scott made the observation that this was like a community center. The owner had for events patrons and pictures on the wall of customers. It was a great place to spend a few hours and relax.
